3 Segments:
Sambo with Stephen Koepfer
Catch Wrestling with Kris Iatskevich
Open clinic with Steve and Kris answering questions by comparing the Sambo and Catch approaches
Kris Catch as Catch Can. From stand up grappling to throws/takedowns, once on the ground, the focus will be staying on top, transitional escapes and breakdowns, then submission chains/flows with special attention to leglocks. Some attention will be given to “ripping”; using discomfort to work an advantage on your opponent.
Stephen will cover rolling attacks from standing and various ground positions. The session will start with proper forward/backward rolling mechanics and will follow with rolling drills (solo and partner drills). Several attacks, counters attacks, and takedown/submission combinations will be practiced. Techniques in this segment will include many common and lesser known attacks of the arms, shoulders, hips, legs, and chokes. We will cover how to attack against or from within the turtle and half guard. A sambo jacket or gi top is required for this segment.
